The product and launch experience shared one clear promise: useful health answers without hiding the evidence
The problem

A promising idea needed a complete product structure

When I joined, Emerald had a strong idea but no product or established journey. Customers needed to understand 115+ biomarkers, a biological age and an overall health score without mistaking a simplified number for a diagnosis.

Every simplification had to preserve the underlying evidence and pass clinical review.

The dashboard

How do you simplify health data without oversimplifying it?

The dashboard had to answer quickly without making the medicine wrong:

  • An Emerald Score and biological age at the top.
  • Plain-language takeaways with actions customers could understand.
  • Deeper reports, sources and context one tap below.

The product principle was simple: answer first, evidence one tap away. I tested the structure with the CEO, CMO, developers and medical team.

The product system

Reports, uploads and GP access in one place

Customers can connect wearables, upload past reports and see when data last synced. I mapped the flows and failure states with medical experts and developers because uncertainty about missing health data quickly erodes trust.

The same system supports 110+ clinician-reviewed articles, calculators and GP messaging. Advice stays next to the data it refers to instead of living in a separate widget.

The hard part was never the data. It was making complex medical results feel calm, clear and worth trusting.

Trade-off

Simple, without dumbing it down

I traded completeness for clarity: one score and a biological age first, full data one tap below. Every simplified number stayed sourced and the medical team signed off on each claim.

Outcome

What shipped

  • A responsive web product and public site shipped from the first concept.
  • A dashboard, reports, uploads and GP access built around the same information model.
  • A reusable design system the team could continue without me in the room.
